Admissions Process

This page contains some of the overall policies and procedures as they relate to admission into Valley Christian Schools.  Please read these very carefully before proceeding with the application process.  The admissions calendar and downloadable forms are available through the links provided.

Each child is considered to be a unique individual before God. The responsibility for his/her growth and care lies first of all in the home. Valley Christian School wishes to aid the parent in this role. Christian teachers bring a positive reinforcement of home values and a Biblically based view of life within the various subject areas.

PARENTAL SUPPORT AND COOPERATION
Parents are valued members of our school community.  Parent participation is encouraged and appreciated at all levels.  It shall be the responsibility parents, family members and guardians to exhibit an attitude that demonstrates Christian principles of grace, love, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control both in word and deed. Families must be willing to support Valley Christian Schools’ Mission Statement, Christian values, and educational philosophy as appropriate to the grade level.  All parents and students are also encouraged to attend a congregation of their choice.

STUDENTS
Admissions may be based upon, but not limited to, the mental, spiritual, physical and academic capabilities of the students as determined by interviews, entrance tests, current transcripts, recommendations, and any available standardized testing results.  The student enrollment will be limited to the amount of adequate, available facilities. Admission to Valley Christian Schools is considered to be a privilege.  The Administration reserves the right to dismiss or refuse admission to anyone unwilling to or is unable to achieve the schools’ level of academic standards.

Valley Christian Schools admit students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, tuition assistance programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.

ADMISSION TESTING
All incoming Elementary and JR/SR High School student applicants will be administered an academic assessment prior to acceptance. The testing is an aid in determining eligibility of enrollment, grade placement, and/or scheduling of classes.

MINIMUM ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Students applying for admission to Valley Christian Schools should be in good academic and behavioral standing with their previous or current school.  At minimum, student’s testing should indicate an ability to perform at the grade level for which they are applying. It should be noted that the average grade level achievement nationally is lower than the average achievement level of students enrolled at Valley Christian Schools. Transfer students are required to complete a minimum of one year in a traditional school setting and meet the minimum requirements for admission.

The admissions team will use information provided in the application, letters of recommendation, admissions exam, and interview to select a group of students most qualified to succeed in the program. Evaluation is holistic, and acceptance will be based solely on a student’s competitiveness among the present pool of applicants.  Students unable to demonstrate grade level performance abilities may apply to a lower grade level or be recommended for a professional educational assessment or special tutoring prior to acceptance.
