Academic & College Counseling

The Counseling Office provides both academic counseling and college counseling for all students. The Counseling Team works together to help students and families make informed academic choices for a successful high school journey. College counseling is woven through the high school experience in order to empower and equip students to make thoughtful and strategic post-secondary educational plans based on their strengths, interests and calling.  These goals are accomplished by:

Academic Counseling

  • Creation of an individualized 4 Year Plan with yearly updates
  • Classroom workshops focusing on study skills, academic planning, and spiritual gifting
  • PSAT testing (8th-12th grade)
  • Academic Support Coordinator
  • English Language Support Program

College Counseling

  • Individual college planning meetings
  • On Campus college fair and college representative visits
  • Career & Calling Day
  • College Essay Boot Camps
  • College Application Workshops
  • Family support navigating the college application process

Counseling Goals

Academic

Develop analytical thinking and creative problem solving, acclimation to high school environment and community, develop effective study skills and habits for academic rigor

College

Introduce high school expectations, curriculum, and evaluation systems and explain post-secondary education options and basic college admission criteria

Support student development as students differentiate academic interests and pathways

Promote career exploration and self-reflection

Explore the academic demands of advanced courses as students pursue college readiness and goals. Classroom presentations regarding college planning and individual plans

Refine post-secondary goals, research college options and create an action plan

Support the process of completing high school with strength and guidance as students transition to post-secondary endeavors.  Life Calling Bible course focused on defining student’s foundational values, strengths, areas for growth and personal mission
