Enrichment
Valley Christian Schools offers a range of enrichment programs and activities that aim for students to grow holistically.
For preschool, we offer opportunities for students to experience educational enrichment right on our campus. We have selected the following sub-contractors to come onto our campus and offer their services to our families: Soccer Shots, Mad Science, Ni Hao Mandarin, and Kinderdance. One of our certified teachers is always available to help students change or to supervise while they participate with their enrichment teachers.
At the elementary school level, we include art, music, technology, science lab, and physical education during the school hours. During the before and after school hours, we offer CREW (Culture, Recreation, Exploration, Worship and Wonder), a guided enrichment and supervised program that includes Bible studies, challenging games, community service activities, creative play, global missions, leadership development, life skills training, sports academy, study room, team building exercises, chess club, drama training, playing musical instruments, learning Mandarin and Spanish, vocal lessons, and a LEGO club focusing on engineering.
Similarly, at the middle and high school levels, we provide study hall, tutoring, study groups, games, life skills training, career exploration, Bible studies, mentoring groups, community service, and intramural sports.
At the heart of our enrichment program is our Fine Arts program, which is integrated into our overall academic curriculum. We believe that visual and performing arts are fundamentally about the pursuit of beauty. It is about the pursuit of faith in ways that we allow it to animate our artistic exploration. It is our faith that motivates us to create as we participate in God’s creative power. It is also about the pursuit of arts and beauty to gain wisdom that transforms our view of others, confronts our insecurities, and anticipate the unexpected possibilities.
Visual Arts offers students a wide range of learning opportunities ranging from ceramics and photography to graphic design. Our students have participated in some notable visual arts events such as the annual VANS sneaker design competition and various California state-wide and local visual arts competitions.
Performing Arts offers students active participation in musical and drama productions, choir, mixed ensemble groups, dance, drama, and music education. Some notable performing arts productions were Wizard of Oz, Oliver, The King and I, Beauty and the Beast, Bye, Bye Birdie, The Sound of Music, along with screen play adaptions of Cinderella and A Midsummer Nights’ Dream.
Lastly, in the sciences, our school is part of the International Space Station Program. Our Space Experimentation Team designed and reported on a project that will soon be launched to the International Space Station at the end of the school year.
